Virtual VIP Newsby Answer Guy Central

“Virgin America Customer Service” a phrase that meant something when Virgin America launched a few years ago, has become an oxymoron. “Virgin America Customer Service” is no more. “Virgin America Customer Service” has become code for “at Virgin America, we have a customer service department whose job it is to not provide customer service to Virgin America customers”.

Take a look at this picture cut from my Facebook feed. One of my friends either “liked” it, commented on it, or shared it. She happens to be pretty active in her use of Facebook, and between that and the fact that thousands of other people did the same thing in the three days since it was posted, it bubbled up.

If The Graduate was made today, ‘Plastics, Benjamin, Plastics’ wouldn’t matter. Today, the best advice a middle-aged guy can offer a recent graduate is “long tail marketing and search engine optimization, son, long tail marketing and search engine optimization”.

Of course, that wouldn’t make a very good line in a movie.

It’s no surprise that I find myself thinking about perception and reality, but yesterday, as happens so many times, I found myself thinking about customer service, too.

You’re wondering what that has to do with fake boobs, aren’t you? Patience, please . . .

Here’s your monthly issue of Virtual VIP News . . . the monthly digest of the information we told our friends and clients about during the past month!
